In collaboration with Willmott Dixon, Briggs and Forrester special projects completed the Brooklands Healthcare project early in September. The project was developed on behalf of Milton Keynes Council and the NHS.
The project, which commenced on the 24th July 2017, was awarded a defect free handover with special mention to the supply chain partners for their dedication to QD and Fieldview. Adding to this amazing news, a 100% record has been maintained – an outstanding achievement to hold since the scheme was introduced.
After 58 weeks of construction, the centre was officially opened by Milton Keynes council leader Pete Marland on the 29th of August 2018. The state-of-the-art, three storey building is the home to innovative and modern healthcare practises including a Chiropractor, dental services and cafe. The building is also equipped to facilitate up to 22,500 patients.
The final project value of Brooklands is valued at 7.7 million and received 100% satisfaction rate from Milton Keynes council. Maria Demmon-project leader, stated the team ‘worked solidly in preconstruction/design stage – a series of well-organised and documented meetings kept process on track and to programme’.
Not only did the centre provide health care services for the public who resided in the Eastern expansion areas of Milton Keynes, it also added significant benefit to the local community by creating jobs, increasing visibility of small and local businesses and also provided the option to invite children from local schools for safety tours. The Brooklands health centre created a great opportunity to contribute to the increasing population of the city, the building is modern and also sustainable which paves way for future developments in Milton Keynes. It was reported that the council has made a total investment of £22.5m into two health centres at Brooklands and another in the Western area – this is set to open in 2020.
