Briggs and Forrester Engineering Services have been awarded the mechanical and electrical contract, working with Morgan Sindall to deliver the new £28m sports facility at Southampton Solent University. This is the first project secured and delivered out of our new Petersfield office following Engineering Services’ expansion into the area.
Designed by ArchitecturePLB and Arup, the four-storey sports facility will house two sports halls, three fitness studios, a health & well-being gym and also a strength & conditioning high performance gym. It will be located next to the Spark building on the university’s East Park Terrace campus.
Ian Lawrence, Managing Director Engineering Services said: “This is one of the first projects delivered out of our new Petersfield office. We continue to develop a strong pipeline of opportunities for the area and see Petersfield as an important addition to our established and successful South East region.”
Engineering Services will design and install the mechanical and electrical services on this project, which include heating, ventilation, BMS, grey water harvesting, LV power, lighting, security, IT, photovoltaic, VRF system and smoke ventilation.
The project aims to achieve a BREAM rating of ‘Excellent’. The building is due for completion September 2019.
