Last month, Richard Sawyer, Quantity Surveyor for Briggs & Forrester Living, played his part in an exciting nationwide community project which hopes to link over a thousand miles of England’s waterways in one giant litter collection relay. The selected mode of transport for this challenge is a Schiller water bike, which is part bike and part raft!
Richard said: “Travelling at a sedate speed of 3-4mph and stopping along the way to collect as much rubbish as possible, I covered 25 miles along the canal from Wolverton to Whilton where I handed over to the next rider to continue the journey.”
Richard navigated 15 locks, 6 aqueducts and 1 very long dark tunnel whilst filling his bucket with the rubbish that he collected along the way. The initiative hopes to collect and recycle a million bits of rubbish and clean up England’s waterways and countryside. For more information and how you can get involved see the link below.
