Last month, 11 members of the Briggs & Forrester Living Team* took part in the Berkeley Foundation Dragon Boat Race.  Having won the race in 2016, the defending champions were among 32 teams who entered. 

After a gruelling race, the team achieved second place after being pipped at the post by the Berkeley Team, who won by less than a third of a second! 

The event raised £50,500 which was then matched by the Berkeley Foundation, bringing the total amount raised to a fantastic £101,000 for the charities which are sponsored by the foundation.

Tony Sambridge, Business Development Director, Combined Energy Solutions has recently completed a 5 kilometre swim for Macmillan Cancer Support.

His training began in March and he completed the swim on the 1st July 2017.

28th July 2017

Today is Derek Hine's last day after 19 years with the company. Derek began his career with Briggs & Forrester in November 1998, working with Mike Stanton to establish the IT infrastructure for the group. 

Derek said, “For me this is the end of an era, and I am about to ride off into the sunset on my bike, I am sure you will all join me in wishing Dom Costantino and his team every success in continuing my legacy, and I wish one and all every success in the future.”

Pete Curtis, Dan Martins, Brian Wandsworth and Duncan Benedetti

Congratulations to Dan Martins, Plumbing Apprentice for Engineering Services, on being awarded The Student Gold Medal Award by The Worshipful Company of Plumbing.

Dan attended the event last week at Barber Surgeons Hall in London, where he was presented with the Student Gold Medal Award by the Master, Brian Wandsworth.This award recognises Dan’s services to plumbing, and also his hard work and training with EAS Mechanical in preparation for the World Skills event in Abu Dhabi later this year.

Briggs & Forrester Living have recently been awarded the Mechanical & Electrical contract with Canary Wharf Contractors to provide shell & core and fit-out services to the Newfoundland residential building.

Newfoundland is a 60-storey residential skyscraper, standing 218m tall, with over 600 apartments. The eye-catching exoskeletal design by architects Horden Cherry Lee, will be a prominent addition to the London skyline.

26th July 2017

As Project Angel nears completion and Northamptonshire County Council staff take occupation, Combined Energy Solutions (CES) technicians have started on site.

They are working closely with the client’s facilities team, and are reporting back to the Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services team with any issues that require attention or investigation.

Last month, the Briggs & Forrester Living Team took part in a charity rugby tournament organised by St George Plc and held at the Bank of England Sports Centre in Roehampton, London. 

The event was in aid of SPEAR, a charity working with homeless people in South and West London, and it raised over £33,000!

Heidi Shrimpton, Head of Fundraising at SPEAR, said “This really is a staggering amount of money to raise, and these funds will help us to sustain and develop new programmes to support those most vulnerable suffering from homelessness.”

21st July 2017

On Saturday 8th July, Susan Metcalf, Commercial Manager for Engineering Services, completed the 24 miles Jurassic Coast walk for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Jurassic Coast is England’s first natural World Heritage Site and is a challenging hike. She began in Weymouth and finished in Corfe Castle, completing the walk in just over 12 hours.

Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services have recently been appointed as the Management Contractor and building services contractor on the refurbishment of a manufacturing facility & office space for Cummins Turbo Technologies in Huddersfield.
