The new facility is an extension to the existing Science and Engineering Research Support Facility (SERSF) building that was completed 3 years ago. Working in partnership with Kier, Briggs & Forrester will provide the mechanical, electrical and public health services.

The facility will provide an additional 2 Labs, CTR rooms, offices and seminar rooms for the university to increase the research capabilities. This extension will also provide additional office accommodation to the increased number of lecturers and professors.

Appointed by Kier, Engineering Services will deliver the mechanical, electrical and public health services contract at the Keynsham Riverside development in Bath.

The redevelopment will include the refurbishment of the existing leisure centre, including a new two storey extension, incorporating a learner pool, changing facilities and fitness suite. This will be delivered in phased handovers within in a live environment.

Here's our top 3 tips to help you save energy and money on water heating.

  • Reduce your hot water consumption by installing tap aerators which can reduce the amount of water flow by up to 50%, whilst delivering sufficient hot water for your needs.
  • Lowering the temperature of your hot water can reduce the amount of energy needed to heat it. A 10 degree reduction in water temperature can result in 3–5% reduction in energy consumption.
  • A conventional hot water heater can make up to 12% of your monthly energy bill, consider installing solar water heaters.

Briggs and Forrester Engineering Services are pleased to announce they have been awarded the mechanical and electrical building services contract on Rhondda Cynon Taff Council’s ambitious Taff Vale development in Pontypridd with Willmott Dixon.

The commercial development comprises of two new office blocks and an ovular gateway building which will host a new library, community facilities and a gym.

Heating and cooling use around 20% to 40% of a building’s energy. Boilers and chillers are not as efficient as they can be, due to being old. Replacing your old boilers and chillers with new, modern versions can help to reduce the overall energy use of the building quite substantially.

A new condensing boiler can operate at highly improved efficiency, at about 95% whereas a conventional boiler will have an efficiency of only 80%.

Last October Briggs & Forrester Living commenced on site with Canary Wharf Contractors to provide shell & core and fit-out services to the Newfoundland residential development in London.

Newfoundland is a 63-storey residential skyscraper, standing 218m tall, with over 600 apartments. The eye-catching exoskeletal design by architects Horden Cherry Lee, will be a prominent addition to the London skyline.

Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services have recently completed the £1.8m M&E contract for a new storage facility for the library of the University of Cambridge.

Working with contractor RG Carter, the new facility houses unique printed material such as books and paper files. The airtight, insulated superstructure has been designed to protect the printed material by stopping the daily cycle of temperature penetrating the interior and slowing down relative humidity changes.
