318 Oxford Street Refurbishment Secured by Briggs & Forrester Engineering

Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services have been appointed by McLaren Construction Group to complete the mechanical, electrical and public health packages on the 318 Oxford Street project.

The building, which previously occupied House of Fraser across all seven storeys, is to undergo a high profile refurbishment. The scheme will see the 6th & 7th floors demolished, reconstructed and extended providing large and flexible Cat A & B commercial space with a 17,000 sqft restaurant on the new 8th floor, providing an overall GIFA of 32,668m2.

The refurbishment will follow a heritage-led approach with extensive structural configuration which aims to revitalise the current façade. Two new double height entrances will be introduced leading to a double height entrance hall and lobby. The revamped building will also boast a new gym with 25m swimming pool and a series of winter gardens on the middle floors.

Additional plant and risers are being installed to increase ventilation rates to improve the health and wellbeing credentials of the development, which is targeting BREEAM Excellent, WELL and WiredScore Gold accreditations.
