Abbey Primary School handed over by Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services

Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services have successfully completed the mechanical, electrical and public health services installation at the new Abbey Primary School in Neath for Main Contractor BAM Construction.

The new two storey 2700m2 learning facilities catering for 520 pupils is built on the site of the former Dwr y Felin Lower Comprehensive School and will provide new learning spaces along with a grass rugby pitch and mixed use games area including soft and hard play areas.

The school is the latest development in the Neath Port Talbot Council’s strategic school improvement programme which has seen more than £123m invested into schools in the district. This will allow for an increased standard in education, better quality and sustainability of school, accessibility and effective financial management.

To assist the Council in reaching a 25% lower energy consumption compared to regulation standards, Engineering Services installed solar PV and dimmable lighting along with major leak detection and local CWS solenoid valves in order to meet the BREEAM Excellent rating.

This is the second school that Engineering Services have delivered in the region with BAM Construction from the Cardiff Office.
