Briggs & Forrester awarded MEP contract on Neath Town Centre Redevelopment

Briggs & Forrester Engineering Service have been appointed by Main Contactor Kier Construction to deliver the full MEP services for the Town Centre redevelopment scheme in Neath. The new 7,082 sqm mixed use project will comprise of a brand new leisure centre and seven retail units that will be built on the former multi-storey car park.

The two-storey building aims to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and will include a 25-metre swimming pool, learner pool and a spectator area, with a barrel vault roof light that will allow for natural light in the pool area. There will also be a health suite, gym and multi-purpose rooms, as well as a café, reception and offices for staff use.

The new development aims to positively impact Neath, encouraging local people into the town centre and also attracting visitors to the town. The redevelopment will help support the recovery of the town centre post COVID-19.

The Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Cllr Rob Jones, said: “This redevelopment will bring new activities and investment to the town centre, strengthening its commercial core and supporting more people to lead a healthy lifestyle while improving wellbeing facilities for the town and surrounding areas.”

The installation of the MEP services are due to commence July 2021 and will be delivered from our Cardiff Office. Operations Manager Mark Clark and his team are looking forward to delivering this prestigious project in collaboration with Kier Construction.
