Briggs & Forrester commence works on Abbey Primary School, Neath

Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services have commenced works on the new Abbey Primary school, Neath with Main Contractor BAM Construction.

The new school will cater for 520 pupils and will be built on the site of the former Dwr y Felin Lower Comprehensive School, replacing the current school which during the construction phase will be split across three separate sites.

The new learning facilities will include a grass rugby pitch, a mixed use games area including soft and hard play areas. The school is the latest development in the Neath Port Talbot Council’s strategic school improvement programme which has seen more than £123m invested into schools in the district. This will allow for an increased standard in education, better quality and sustainability of school, accessibility and effective financial management.

“The improvement programme focuses on raising educational standards and supporting continuous improvement. At the heart of the programme is the delivery of high quality educational experiences that encourage and support pupil development – experiences that meet the aspirations of young learners, enhancing and enriching their lives and their life opportunities.”

This is the second school that Engineering Services have secured in the region with BAM Construction from the Cardiff Office. The project is due to complete in March 2022.
