Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services complete MEP contract on Government Hub building in Birmingham

Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services are delighted to have achieved completion of the MEP contract on the Government Hub Building, part of the Arena Central development in Birmingham.

Working in collaboration with ISG, Briggs & Forrester delivered the CAT B services fit-out of the new 22,000m³ block which commenced in November 2020.

The scheme spans 13 storeys, plus the roof and 4 basement levels with ISG and Briggs & Forrester taking the CAT A open plan office accommodation space to a CAT B fit-out creating meeting rooms, server rooms, café, multi-use spaces and kitchenette spaces. The building will be home to around 4,000 public servants from several government departments, including from HMRC and Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

The project consisted of new and relocated FCUs, lighting, small power and containment with limited drainage and hot & cold water and a new kitchen on the ground floor supplied with hot & cold water services. The scheme also provided new power resilience to key services via new standby generator which was installed using a helicopter lift in July 2021.
