Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services complete works to new secondary academy in West Bromwich

Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services have delivered the MEP contract on the new secondary Shirelands CBSO Academy in West Bromwich working in collaboration with the Main Contractor Galliford Try Construction.

A five storey office building was refurbished to create a free, non-selective state school for up to 870 students. The building features a double height entrance lobby, tripe height 300 seat performance hall built within an existing atrium and linked to the drama studio, a double height library, teaching areas and audio visual experience rooms which can be used as immersive spaces for SEN pupils.

In addition there is a new sports building on an adjacent road which includes an activity studio, large sports hall with three badminton courts, changing rooms and shower facilities.

The academy has been developed as part of a partnership between Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. Engineering Services were responsible for delivering the full mechanical, electrical and public health services package.
