Formerly a steelworks with a Grade II listed viaduct, Monk Bridge is an area of regeneration in the centre of Leeds. Briggs & Forrester Living were appointed by principal contractors, Galliford Try, for the full design, installation and commissioning of the M&E services to 665 apartments over 5 blocks.
With a range of 11 to 21 storeys and containing a mix of 1,2 and 3 bed apartments, the blocks are all serviced via a central energy centre for the hot water and heating generation which is housed within a viaduct arch with significant elements fabricated off-site. The Grade II listed railway viaduct has been energised into retail units, a cycle hub and residential amenity areas including a MUGA pitch.
“For over 3 years and from design to practical completion, Briggs & Forrester Living have closely collaborated with Galliford Try to delivery a fantastic and complex project. Delivered from our Leeds office, our Self-delivery approach has allowed us to be flexible with our labour management and our local supply chain of specialist contractors has allowed us to be flexible with our labour management and our local specialist supply chain has contributed massively to our success. The large energy centre within the railway arch, is a real wow feature….!”
