Briggs & Forrester Chairman Mike Stanton retires after 37 years

After more than 37 years at the helm of the Briggs & Forrester Group, Mike Stanton has retired from his position as Group Chairman.

Mike said: “Over the past 73 years the Group has gone from strength to strength and is well positioned to continue to develop successfully in the future as one of the UK’s Top 5 Independent Building Services Contractors.

“The Group now operates nationally across the UK, and has come a long way from the domestic heating & maintenance business operated from my family’s home on Overstone Road in Northampton back in the mid 1960’s.

“It gives me great pleasure to announce that Paul Burton will be my successor, taking on the combined role of Group Chairman and Chief Executive from 1st January 2021. I have every confidence that Paul and the Group Board will continue to lead the business successfully in the years ahead.”

Paul Burton first joined Briggs & Forrester in 2000 where he progressed to the position of Managing Director for Engineering Services division in addition to being a Group Board Director. Following his success in these roles and having completed a successful MBO, he was appointed as Group CEO in 2017. The Group has gone from strength to strength under Paul’s leadership and has seen a 23% increase in turnover to £226m just completed during 2020. Paul’s commitment to the business and clear vision for the future of the Group made him the natural successor.

Paul Burton commented: “I would personally like to thank Mike for his dedicated commitment and strategic direction in developing our Group over the past 37 years and it has been an honour to work alongside him. I now look forward to working alongside my Group Board colleagues, including our recently appointed Finance Director, Jeremy Askew as we strive to continue delivering Excellence at Every Level for our many valued clients.”
