Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services have successfully lifted and positioned plant to both internal and external plant rooms on level 4 of the Health & Life Sciences project, located in Reading.
The site team were commended by Balfour Beatty Project Management for the lifting operations which were conducted over a 12 day period and consisted of 68 lifts. The appointed lifting contractors were Mechanical Movements.
Kevin Austin, Briggs & Forrester Mechanical Supervisor, also received an award for his diligent control of Health and Safety matters throughout the project.
Appointed by Balfour Beatty, Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services secured the £10.8m mechanical and electrical services contract for the Health & Life Sciences project at the University of Reading.
The new high specification Health & Life Science facility within the existing campus will provide 7,600m2 of lab, write up and museum space over five levels. The project aims to achieve BREEAM ‘Very Good’, through the use of photovoltaics as a low and zero carbon technology.
The project consolidates six existing buildings into one purpose build facility that is home to one of the largest teaching labs in the UK. Construction commenced on the ambitious new build in March 2018, and it’s scheduled for completion at the end of 2019.
