This year, Briggs and Forrester are delighted to be working on project sites across the UK that will be opening their doors to the public. Across the nation, the ‘Open Doors’ project enables members of the community to access sites and gain insight into major construction sites across England, Scotland and Wales. The scheme, delivered by Build UK is a great way to inspire individuals to join the construction industry by giving them a behind-the-scenes perspective to what happens on site.
Today Kier’s Cryfields Village project at the University of Warwick is set to open. Cryfields is a new student accommodation development with a services value of £15.5m. The Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services division will provide full design & build of all mechanical, electrical and Public Health services on 14 apartments ranging between 3 and 7 storeys, which include student accommodation, Student Hub, launderette, office space and meeting rooms.
In 2018, it was reported that 97% of those who attended Open Doors rated their visit as good or very good and 75% said they would consider a career in construction as a result of Open Doors. This just demonstrates the importance of inspiring the next generation in the world of construction, opening up the possibility for them to have great career opportunities.
Open Doors runs from Monday 18th to Saturday 23rd March 2019. Royal School located in Wolverhampton, is set to open its doors on the 20th March 2019.
