Project Update: ‘A Stable Future’ at Delapré Abbey

Great to see strong momentum on this landmark restoration, delivered by Briggs & Forrester Special Projects in partnership with Delapré Abbey Preservation Trust, Drake & Partners, Buttress Architects, Bob Costello Associates and David Smith Associates.

This Heritage Lottery Fund-supported project continues to transform the Grade II* listed stable block into a vibrant wellbeing, retail and community hub 🌿

Here’s what’s been happening on site:

✅ Restoration works progressing across the historic ranges
• New floor slabs installed
• Underfloor heating now being fitted

✅ Roof strengthening & re-covering complete
• Safeguarding the buildings for future generations

✅ New-build extensions advancing well
• Structures now out of the ground and largely weather-tight
• Photovoltaic (PV) panels installed and ready for cladding

✅ Internal fit-out moving forward
• Mechanical and electrical first-fix installations underway
• Spaces beginning to take shape internally, including the formation of internal partitioning, and preparations for internal finishes across a number of areas.

✅ Sustainable infrastructure progressing
• Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) works in motion
• Below-ground services now being installed

This exciting scheme, made possible with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, will breathe new life into a historic Northampton landmark, creating a destination focused on wellbeing, community and sustainability.
