The brief
Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services delivered the MEP contract for One Centenary Way in collaboration with Sir Robert McAlpine.
The new 280,000 sq ft commercial building overlooking Centenary Square spans 13 floors including a 2 storey basement with car parking and cycle facilities which extends over the full width of the Queensway Tunnel below. The ground level consists of a grand reception entrance with additional retail space to be fitted out by tenants.
The 12 floors of open plan office floorplates have been developed in line with BCO standards, with all services “on show”, with 4 pipe fan coils providing heating & cooling via the latest in Air Source Heat Pump technology. The floorplates are also lit by low energy, LED lighting which combined with the ASHP system allows a significant improvement on the minimum Part L energy performance requirements. The 2 roof plant levels house ventilation plant, various electrical switch rooms along with the air and water source heat pump systems.

We have a fully integrated design and build capability across the group, including 3D coordination and Building Information Modelling. By developing the design and being fully involved in the early stages of a project, we can provide timely design solutions and verification.
The group provides a range of specialist skills encompassing engineering, design, installation, and maintenance. The combined experience, knowledge and expertise of all five divisions enables the group to develop and implement fully-integrated solutions for some of the most complex and demanding mechanical, electrical and public health engineering installations.
