The Role: 
We wish to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer to enable further growth of our highly successful team in Northampton. You will liaise, develop and review design solutions with colleagues, consultants and clients on a wide range of project types, sectors and sizes. As part of the role you will also provide support to our operations and commercial teams to ensure the MEP installation adheres to the design, in-house technical standards and all legislative commitments. This is a permanent position with strong career prospects, we are looking for candidates who are articulate and able to communicate in a confident and professional manner. It is essential candidates are able to work as part of a team but they should be self-motivated and able to work on their own initiative with minimal supervision. • Carry out technical reviews of tender information. • Produce design work in accordance with the RIBA Stage of works. • Provide detailed mechanical designs for installation. • Carry out design calculations as needed. • Attend meetings internally and externally as required to facilitate the successful completion of a project representing B&F. • Liaise with wider projects design team. • Delivering an integrated design in accordance with the design programme. • Delivering designs solutions in accordance with company QA policies. • Take a pro-active approach to customer satisfaction. • Be commercially aware and monitor and track design change. • Interface and work with all other departments within the business to provide a holistic approach to delivering MEP installations. • Take responsibility for achieving a high level of technical competence. • Work with internal testing and commissioning department • Actively look to improve via CPDs and training both internal and external. • Support/mentor trainees and other team members.
Requirements: 
• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years design experience within the Building Services Industry, and will come from a Consultant or Contracting background. • Candidates should be qualified to HNC standard as a minimum. • Capable of using CAD software including, Hevacomp, AutoCAD and Revit. • Not essential but experience of using IES software would be useful. • Experience and knowledge of MEP design solutions for, Heating, Ventilation, Cooling Domestic Services, Above Ground Drainage and BMS.
